Youth Mental Health Allocations Panel |
Each Allocation Panel is composed of about 10-15 volunteers from the community. As a group they review a segment of the United Way member agencies by meeting twice a year with each agency assigned to that panel. The panel's primary responsibility is to assure the efficient use of the money contributed through the annual United Way Campaign for the development and continuation of human service programs supported by United Way. In fulfilling this responsibility, panel members work cooperatively with each of the assigned agencies to assure public accountability for the use of the funds allocated to that agency. The panel does not have administrative control over the agencies it reviews, nor is it an official representative or advocate for the agencies.
This panel is concerned with Youth Mental Health. Youth mental
health refers to those services, opportunities, and supports designed to help
young people effectively deal with life stressors, develop positive social
interactions, and learn effective decision making skills. Programs reviewed by
this panel may include, but are not limited to:
· screening;
· diagnosis;
· non-crisis services; and
· positive youth development
. The recommendations of the allocations
panels are reviewed by the Allocations
Steering Committee, the Community
Services Division, and ultimately are approved by Board
of Directors of United Way of Broome County.
