Donor Incentive Prizes

Donors to United Way Campaign won six prizes including 2007 Chevrolet Aveo

Six donor incentive prizes were awarded to contributors to the 2007 Campaign, United Way of Broome County's annual fund drive. They included a 2007 automobile, a large screen plasma television, $1,500 in gasoline, and three prizes of $1,000 in groceries.

The prizes were...

Wegmans Food Market in Johnson City again give away three $1,000 gift cards, one each to three people who pledged to donate $1 per week or more to the 2007 United Way Campaign. This is the fifth year in a row that Wegmans has donated a prize to the Campaign. The gift cards can be used for groceries or any other store merchandise. The winners were Denise E. Carroll of Binghamton, an employee of Lockheed Martin; Tony Aikey of Vestal, an employee of Lockheed Martin; and Lou Gellatt, an employee of Frito-Lay.

A new donor incentive this year was $1,500 in Valero gasoline--enough to drive 10,000 miles.  This prize, which was donated by Manley's Might Mart, was awarded to a person who agreed to contribute $2 or more a week to the 2007 United Way Campaign.

The winner was Gina Edgington of Conklin, an employee of United Health Services.

As another incentive to encourage donations, Olum’s Furniture Company agreed to donate a 42" Hitachi television matched with a JVC digital theatre DVD surround sound system. This prize went to a person who pledged to donate $2.50 or more a week to the 2007 United Way Campaign.

The winner was Charles S. Smith of Johnson City, an employee of Lockheed Martin.

Those who agree to donate $3 per week or more to the 2007 Campaign were eligible to enter a drawing for a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo five-door hatchback, which was donated by Gault Chevrolet of  Endicott. It has a five speed manual transmission and is rated at 37 miles per gallon on the highway.

The winner was Conner Deming of Apalachin, a student at Vestal High School
and an employee of Wegmans.

Drawings for all six donor incentives were held at United Way’s Thank You/Awards reception in December. A donor who met the eligibility requirements for the drawing at a particular pledge amount could also enter the drawings for the lower pledge amounts. A separate entry card was completed for each type of prize. A specific amount of approved community service could be substituted for the financial donation to United Way to enter the drawing for each of the prizes. Please contact United Way at (607) 729-2592 for specific details. The entry cards were available from the United Way representative at each organization conducting an in-house United Way campaign, or by contacting United Way. No donor funds were used for any of these prizes.

Thanks to all the generous donors who support the United Way Campaign and do "what matters" for the people in our community!
